Flamboyan (Delonix regia) is a tree up to 15 meters tall of the Fabaceae family, originating from Madagascar and South America, now a popular roadside shade tree in various tropical countries including Indonesia. In the Caribbean Islands, its hard seeds are used as a traditional percussion instrument. As a now-protected plant, flamboyan is also traditionally believed to help address diabetes and bronchitis.

Flamboyan grows in tropical regions with full sunlight and air temperature 14-26 °C. This plant is drought-tolerant, average annual rainfall 700-1,800 mm/year, with soil pH 5.6-6. Flamboyan can live in open places such as roadsides, city parks, house yards.

• Roots buttress roots, easily spreading.
• Stem smooth textured, sympodial, grayish-brown in color.
• Leaves compound up to 70 cm long with 20-30 egg-shaped, hairy leaflets, pinnate venation.
• Flowers red or orange in color, 10 cm in size. Petals have serrated edges.
• Fruit sword-like, bright green when young, blackish-brown when mature.
• Seeds small pod shaped, black in color, large and dense. 

Propagated generatively (by seed). Mature seeds are dried in the hot sun until dry. Soak the seeds in warm water overnight then plant in a pot.

Anthocyanins, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, amino acids, phytosterol, alkanes, cyanidin, carotenoids, lectin, chlorogenic acid, stigmasterol, linoleic, phytol, β-sitosterol, carotenoid steroids, phenolic acids (gallic acid, protocatechuic acid, salicylic acid, transcinnamic, lycopene), lupeol, galactomannans,
hydrocarbon phytotoxins.

Treats diabetes, bronchitis, rheumatism, fever, pneumonia, anemia, treats wounds and boils, eye and bone health, viral immunity, antimicroorganism, anticancer, antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antimalarial.

• Wash flamboyant flowers thoroughly, then air-dry for 4 days.
• Once dry, grind using a blender until it becomes powder.
• Store in a clean, airtight container.
