Grapes (Vitis vinifera) are a vine up to 10 meters long of the Vitaceae family, believed to originate from around the Black Sea and Caspian Sea, now cultivated in Probolinggo, Bali, and the Palu Valley. The fruit is processed into fresh fruit, dye, oil, and cream of tartar. Grapes are also believed to brighten the skin and boost immunity thanks to their antioxidant content.
Agroecology
This plant can grow from lowlands up to 300 m above sea level in a dry climate with daytime temperatures of 31°C and nighttime temperatures of 23°C, with air humidity of around 75-80%.
Morphology
- Root a taproot.
- Stem jointed, greenish-brown, 2-5 cm in diameter.
- Leaves single, alternate, heart-shaped with lobes, serrated edges and a tapering tip, 10-14 cm long, 8-14 cm wide.
- Flowers arranged in panicles, yellowish or pink in color.
- Fruit round or somewhat oblong, about ±2 cm, smooth skin, various colors, sweet-sour flesh, containing 2-4 seeds.
- Seeds two-lobed, brown in color.
Cultivation
- Propagated generatively (seed) and vegetatively (cuttings).
- Cutting length no more than 25-30 cm with 2-3 nodes, the cutting stem must be round with a diameter of 1 cm.
