Xanthostemon chrysanthus (F. Muell.) Benth.

Penda emas (Xanthostemon chrysanthus) is a small perennial tree, 9-12 meters tall, from the Myrtaceae family that originates from Queensland, Australia, spread as far as Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. Its striking bright yellow flowers attract bees while also making it a popular ornamental, while in Queensland its hard wood is used to make spearheads. Penda emas is traditionally believed to purify the blood and help with liver and lung ailments.

Penda emas grows at elevations of 10-1,600 m asl, with temperatures ranging from 10-34 °C. This plant grows well in full sun to partial shade, on well-drained podzolic and alluvial soils. It requires an average annual rainfall of 1,200-2,500 mm.

• Fruit solitary, capsule-shaped, changing from green to brown when ripe. Seeds are dispersed explosively.
• Seeds small, flat and round, 1.5-2 mm in diameter, light, and hairless.

Propagated by seeds and cuttings. The parts of the plant that can be used for cuttings are shoots, twigs, secondary branches, stems, and roots. Requires regular pruning and fertilization for maintenance.
